WAILEA, Hawaii — In this Healio Video Perspective from Hawaiian Eye 2024, Brandon D. Ayres, MD, discusses his experience with Iheezo, an FDA-approved ocular anesthetic for anterior segment surgery.
According to Ayres, Iheezo (chloroprocaine hydrochloride ophthalmic gel 3%, Harrow) allowed his center’s certified registered nurse anesthetists to use less anesthesia during cataract surgery while offering additional benefits.
“The product works very quickly, and [patients] are already getting the anesthesia within a minute to a minute and a half, and it only takes three drops to get them comfortable,” Ayres said.
