FRANKFURT, Germany — In this Healio Video Perspective from the ESCRS winter meeting, Fabrizio Camesasca, MD, speaks about sequential customized phototherapeutic keratectomy.

Phototherapeutic keratectomy (PTK) entails sequential ablation with intraoperative topographic measurements for customized treatment of irregular corneas and has a wide spectrum of applications.

“It is a technique that allows us to reduce higher-order aberrations and makes these corneas optically better,” he said.

It can also widen the indications for refractive cataract surgery to include irregular corneas that would normally not be tolerant of premium IOLs.
