WAILEA, Hawaii — In this Healio Video Perspective from Hawaiian Eye 2024, Douglas Katsev, MD, discusses changes he has seen in dry eye treatment with the emergence of Miebo.

Miebo (perfluorohexyloctane ophthalmic solution, Bausch + Lomb), an eye drop that prevents tear evaporation, can work for many different types of dry eye, Katsev said.

“One unique aspect of it is when you put a drop of Miebo in, you can slide in a punctal plug very easily,” he said. “So, often in my office, I’ll put a drop of Miebo in each eye and then grab that punctal plug, which can cause people a little panic when you see that coming at them. And then when you slide that in with no problem, it gives you that much more confidence in your surgical ability.”
