NEW YORK — In a presentation at OSN New York, Kourtney Houser, MD, discussed the importance of optimizing the cornea before premium cataract surgery.

“Dry eye is one of the main causes of unhappy patients after premium surgery, but also anterior basement membrane dystrophy, Salzmann nodules. I think they’re highly undiagnosed before patients come in for cataract surgery,” she said. “As hard as it is to pause and tell a patient that we need to delay surgery, I think it’s really serving our patients best to do that.”
