ROME — In this Healio Video Perspective from the FLORetina-ICOOR meeting, K. Bailey Freund, MD, speaks about laser-induced maculopathy.

This type of injury is often self-inflicted with handheld lasers and leads to severe vision loss if not promptly diagnosed. In his presentation, Freund highlighted some key OCT findings and other specific signs that can help formulate a sometimes difficult diagnosis and differentiate this form of injury from other conditions.

“This can be a critical diagnosis to make in your practices and is becoming increasingly frequent given the wide availability of these handheld lasers on the internet,” he said.
