NEW YORK — In this Healio Video Perspective from OSN New York, Nathan M. Radcliffe, MD, discusses ways to manage and keep offices efficient in the era of technician shortages.

Radcliffe highlights the increase in virtual visual field assessments since the pandemic and how they have improved.

“I’m happy to say that we now have virtual visual field headsets that are highly reliable and repeatable based on Humphrey visual fields, which of course are ubiquitous in glaucoma practice but can take a lot of time and involve bringing the patient into a separate room, which can cost the practice in terms of space and technician time,” Radcliffe said.

Measuring IOP using handheld tonometry devices can also be efficient. “They don’t take up a lot of space, and I think they can be used because they have good reliability,” Radcliffe said.
