VIDEO: Lensar, Oertli working to integrate phaco technology in Ally system

In this Healio Video Perspective from Eyecelerator@AAO, Nick Curtis of Lensar discusses the Ally adaptive cataract treatment system’s implementation of Oertli’s Faros easyPhaco technology, which was submitted for FDA 510(k) clearance.
The combined femtosecond laser and phacoemulsification system would be the first system to combine these technologies if the Faros device is cleared, according to a press release from Lensar.
“Surgeons have the option of performing [femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery] procedures in a completely sterile environment, moving seamlessly from laser to phaco, saving between 8 and 10 minutes per procedure with Ally,” the release said.
The integrated femto-phaco system is designed to allow surgeons to perform the entire cataract surgery on one system, which will optimize the procedure and save space in the operating room.
“We really believe Ally is truly in a class of its own,” Curtis said. “It’s the only laser system to offer surgeons a seamless workflow. It’s also better for the patient, the surgeon and the practice.”
