In this Healio Video Perspective, David Almeida, MD, MBA, PhD, speaks about real-world study results of the fluocinolone acetonide intravitreal implant, a long-acting drug delivery system for diabetic macular edema.

In the study, presented at the Euretina congress, patients were shown to do well with Iluvien (fluocinolone acetonide intravitreal implant 0.19 mg, Alimera Sciences), irrespective of starting vision, with no new safety signals and significantly reduced treatment burden.
