NEW YORK — In this Healio Video Perspective from OSN New York, Nathan M. Radcliffe, MD, discusses reimbursement issues for minimally invasive glaucoma surgery.

According to Radcliffe, some Medicare contractors sent out proposed local coverage determinations this year suggesting that commonly performed MIGS procedures should be considered “experimental.”

“Take the time to talk to any insurance company that is unwilling to pay for a procedure, remind them you have a strong clinical rationale that is well supported by evidence, and simply put, just stick up for yourself, your practice and your patients,” he said.
