MARCO ISLAND, Fla. — In this Healio Video Perspective, Alice T. Epitropoulos, MD, FACS, shares pearls for the detection and treatment of neurotrophic keratitis she presented at the Women in Ophthalmology Summer Symposium.
“As soon as we suspect neurotrophic keratitis, it’s important to check corneal sensitivity because that is diagnostic for NK,” Epitropoulos said. “Once we diagnose it, we want to optimize the health of the ocular surface.”
She also describes the staging of neurotrophic keratitis and the use of cenegermin-bkbj, the FDA-approved treatment for all three stages of neurotrophic keratitis.
