“Eye dryness can often be addressed first at home with over-the-counter (OTC) eye care products. For many eye care professionals, and the patients they serve, it’s about finding the right solution for their needs,” John Ferris, executive vice president, consumer, Bausch + Lomb, told Healio. “Eye care professionals can recommend the Blink line of eye drops as a potential OTC option for their patients who are seeking immediate and long-lasting symptom relief.”

The acquisition includes Blink Tears lubricating eye drops, Blink Tears preservative-free lubricating eye drops, Blink GelTears lubricating eye drops, Blink Triple Care lubricating eye drops, Blink Contacts lubricating eye drops and Blink-N-Clean lens drops.

“The acquisition of the Blink OTC product line provides scale to our broad OTC portfolio, which includes eye and contact lens drops from the company’s Biotrue, Soothe and Artelac consumer brand franchises,” Ferris said. “Dry eyes are on the rise, especially due to time spent on digital devices. With the addition of Blink, we have an exciting opportunity to increase OTC consumer convenience in eye care by providing more options to help relieve the symptoms of dry eyes and dry contact lenses.”
