Key takeaways:

  • CSF-1 low-dose pilocarpine drops improve reading vision in patients with presbyopia.
  • Real-world functional vision tasks are also improved.

SAN DIEGO — In this Healio Video Perspective from the ASCRS meeting, Preeya K. Gupta, MD, presented a poster on the functional benefits of CSF-1 low-dose pilocarpine drops from Orasis Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of presbyopia.

Previous studies demonstrated statistically significant improvement in reading vision at days 1, 8 and 15. In a secondary analysis, Gupta’s group was able to demonstrate that clinically significant improvement was achieved also in real-world functional vision, with a great impact on daily living activities.

“Patients that used the CSF-1 product have a greater amount of functional visual acuity, which is very practical and applicable to our real world,” Gupta said. “It’s something that patients from my own clinical practice are looking for in terms of being able to do their visual tasks without using reading glasses.”
