- Ziplyft is a new device for blepharoplasty, inspired by an ancient Egyptian procedure.
- Consistent, symmetric results are achieved in less than 10 minutes.
SAN DIEGO — In this Healio Video Perspective from Eyecelerator@ASCRS, Patricia Buehler, MD, presents Ziplyft, her own innovative device for blepharoplasty.
Blepharoplasty is a popular procedure that improves peripheral vision as well as periorbital aesthetics, but there has been little innovation in this space for decades, Buehler said.
“My innovation insight came when I was at an ancient Egyptian medicine exhibit. The Egyptians removed that extra skin by compressing it between two small twigs, and the skin deprived of blood supply would fall off without sutures or surgery,” she said.
Based on that idea, she designed and patented the Ziplyft device (Osheru), which allows surgeons to deliver consistent, symmetric results in less than 10 minutes.
