  • Symfony OptiBlue performed better in difficult light.

SAN DIEGO — In this Healio Video Perspective from the ASCRS meeting, Daniel H. Chang, MD, speaks about the Tecnis Symfony OptiBlue extended depth of focus IOL powered by InteliLight technology from Johnson & Johnson Vision.

A prospective study that compared the performance of this lens with the standard Tecnis Symfony in 120 eyes showed no difference in visual acuity at all distances. However, the Symfony OptiBlue performed better than the other lens in difficult light situations.

“The lower the contrast and the dimmer the lighting, the bigger the difference we saw,” Chang, a cataract and refractive surgeon with Empire Eye and Laser Center, said.
