In this Healio Video Perspective from Glaucoma 360 New Horizons Forum, Johanna Gonzalez, MD, discusses applications of the Elios excimer laser procedure in patients with glaucoma.

Elios addresses the increased resistance to outflow in patients with glaucoma by using an excimer laser to create microchannels in the trabecular meshwork and inner wall of Schlemm’s canal to restore natural outflow.

“Excimer has the advantage of being incredibly precise and a nonthermal laser, which results in minimum trauma, minimum inflammatory response, and preservation of the physiology and anatomy of the angle structures,” Gonzalez said.
