“It’s a really exciting time because we are on the precipice of having one or multiple therapies for the treatment of geographic atrophy,” he said. “We know that GA is the advanced dry form of AMD. We used to think there was a fork in the road — either you developed wet AMD or you developed GA. It turns out about a third of patients with wet AMD develop RPE atrophy and patients with GA can develop wet AMD as well.”
