In this Healio Video Perspective, Christina Y. Weng, MD, MBA, discusses her presentation from the Retina Society meeting that explored retinal artery occlusion as a result of self-injected lip filler.

“There are patients out there who are self-injecting DIY, or do-it-yourself, cosmeceuticals,” Weng said. “It is alarmingly easy to buy these products online for cheap and then to find tutorials on social media platforms. Hopefully there will be better regulation of these products in the future to prioritize public safety.”
