VIDEO: Age a primary risk factor for developing geographic atrophy
NEW YORK — In this video, Caroline R. Baumal, MD, of New England Eye Center in Boston, discussed the significant link between age and geographic atrophy at OSN New York Retina.
Baumal said that the risk for geographic atrophy quadruples once a patient passes the age of 50 years and discussed her experience in seeing how geographic atrophy can lead to loss of visual acuity.
“Geographic atrophy in advanced age-related macular degeneration remains an unmet need for treatment in our patients,” Baumal said.
