VIDEO: Heritage Lecture explores evolution of IOL technology

MILAN — The ESCRS Heritage Lecture was assigned this year to Lucio Buratto, MD, one of the pioneers of modern cataract surgery with IOL implantation.
“History and evolution of pseudophakic IOLs — A tribute to the pioneers” was the title and topic of his presentation, which included a unique collection of photographs and surgical videos documenting the evolution of IOL technology, construction and implantation techniques. Thanks to the innovators, who often faced fierce opposition at the time, we have come a long way, Buratto said.
