OSN New York will celebrate its 30th anniversary with an in-person meeting Oct. 15 to 17 in New York, held in conjunction with OSN New York Retina.

“In-person meetings bring back the spontaneity of live interaction, allowing faculty and participants to exchange ideas in a rapid-fire, organic way,” OSN Cataract Surgery Section Editor John A. Hovanesian, MD, FACS, program committee member of OSN New York, said.

The meetings will take place at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel. As of press time, guests who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 do not have to wear face coverings or social distance. However, unvaccinated guests are required to abide by face covering and social distancing restrictions. These restrictions may be subject to change.

“We will continue with an expanded disruptive innovation session and increased education on retina,” OSN Chief Medical Editor Richard L. Lindstrom, MD, program director of OSN New York, said. “This is a meeting that draws positive reviews every year from attending ophthalmologists.”

OSN New York will feature a comprehensive program and prominent specialist speakers offering perspectives and pearls about practice and research.

“The OSN New York 2021 meeting will return with its time-tested format of a comprehensive update for the practicing ophthalmologist,” Lindstrom said. “We have retained a superb faculty, and New York in the fall is a special time.”

Attendees can earn up to 15 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits while also having time to explore the city. Broadway, restaurants and shops are expected to be open.

“I’m looking forward to hearing updates on my colleagues’ experience with new implants and other surgical technology that is improving our outcomes. Several new device approvals have occurred during the pandemic, and several more are coming. It’s the right time for colleagues to interact and share our experiences,” Hovanesian said. “Getting back together live at Hawaiian Eye and Kiawah this past year has been extremely gratifying. I never realized how much I missed handshakes and hugs of colleagues I missed. OSN New York promises to be equally rewarding, and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone there.”
