Ophthalmic World Leaders announced a new board member development and networking program, “Get-On-Board with OWL,” according to a press release.

Get-On-Board is “primarily aimed at executive-level women and underrepresented communities,” according to the release. It involves a five-part training program of digital and in-person skill building that concentrates on preparing diverse leadership to pursue and secure board positions in the corporate world.

The first digital “chapter” encompasses the role a board member plays in an organization and what this position requires. The next chapter focuses on liabilities, compensation structures and other details involved with such work. Chapter three allows participants to better understand the board selection and application process, while the fourth chapter lays out career pathways and challenges.

A live event in Newport Beach, California, culminates the program, offering networking opportunities with board member recruiters.

“Get-On-Board will help participants take advantage of the positive momentum shaping the future of corporate governance, equipping them with the knowledge, skills and connections required to develop and assert their boardroom presence,” OWL Executive Director Gaynor Fries said in the release.

Registration for the program is now open with the first digital event occurring May 10.
