The European Glaucoma Society has accepted MicroPulse transscleral laser therapy into the latest edition of its “Terminology and Guidelines for Glaucoma,” Iridex announced in a press release.

MicroPulse transscleral laser therapy, which reduces IOP in patients with primary open-angle, closed-angle and refractory glaucoma, is a non-incisional, repeatable procedure performed using the Cyclo G6 laser system and MicroPulse P3 delivery device, according to the release.

“We are very encouraged with the broadening recognition of MicroPulse TLT in the ophthalmic community,” Iridex CEO David Bruce, said in the release.

The EGS guidelines represent recommendations for diagnosis and management of glaucoma to standardize practice within the European Union, according to the release.

The new guidelines, the society’s 5th edition, were presented at the virtual European Glaucoma Society annual meeting.
