VIDEO: Gene therapy presentations are ‘groundbreaking’
In this video, Caroline R. Baumal, MD, professor at Tufts University School of Medicine, discusses topics in age-related macular degeneration from the virtual American Academy of Ophthalmology annual meeting and her hopes for 2021.
“I'm hopeful to see new medications or movement on new treatments for non-neovascular or dry AMD, especially geographic atrophy. This is really an unmet need because we don't have anything available right now,” Baumal told Healio.
She also discussed gene therapy treatments, antibody biopolymer conjugates (ABCs) and anti-VEGF agents as hot topics in AAO 2020.
