The need for Octane to develop into a content providing forum, and the pursuit of continuing evolution and innovation were part of the introductory presentation at the organization’s 2020 MedTech Innovation Forum.

“To say that this year has been different is an understatement,” Bill Carpou, CEO of Octane, said during the opening presentation. “It has tested the resolve of every individual and organization. Octane has been no different.”

Octane’s monthly programming series, Ignite, which has allowed the organization to distribute “high-value” programming virtually and with greater frequency and reach, will now become the norm for future Octane programming, Carpou said.

During the presentation, Carpou addressed the five key imperatives Octane has found essential for creating a successful innovative ecosystem, including innovation and ideas, capital, infrastructure, community and centers of gravity.

Carpou added that the southern California region, particularly Orange County, is “on the edge of breakout for both national and global recognition” as a location for the creation, building and growing of businesses.

“Orange County has come a long way in the achievement of many of these through great combined efforts of many organizations throughout the region,” Carpou said. “However, even with all the progress of the last few years, we must not become complacent.”
