Bausch Foundation report details charitable activities

The Bausch Foundation released its inaugural activity report, detailing the contributions and work the foundation put forth in its first 2.5 years, including raising nearly $20,000 in support of the Eye Bank Association of America.

“I am proud of the impact we have had so far, and with the support of our philanthropic partners and Bausch Health’s 22,000 employees around the globe, I am confident that we can build on this to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives,” Joseph C. Papa, chairman and CEO, Bausch Health Companies, said in the report.

The foundation supports initiatives that target disease prevention, education and community support and improve patient outcomes. In 2018 and 2019, the foundation donated a total value of $350 million to medical mission trips.

In eye care, the foundation has a partnership with Prevent Blindness, which aims to educate patients about age-related macular degeneration. In 2019, the foundation launched SightMatters.com to help people with AMD. The foundation also supports the Carroll Center for the Blind, the Guide Dog Foundation, Foundation Fighting Blindness and more. In addition, the foundation donated dozens of cases of Bausch + Lomb lubricant eye drops for firefighters in California in 2018.

Bausch Health draws on employee support in order to make positive impacts. The foundation matched employee donations to provide more than $200,000 to the American Red Cross for hurricane relief efforts in 2017.

In addition to direct contributions to various organizations, the foundation has worked with outside groups and subsidiaries to set up scholarship programs. The Aspire Higher program has awarded nearly $650,000 in scholarships for students living with dermatological conditions since 2013. In 2019, Salix Pharmaceuticals launched an initiative to provide $10,000 to 10 students with gastrointestinal diseases. The foundation also prioritizes support for science, technology, engineering and mathematics educational initiatives.
