Retina 2021 announces new program directors

Judy E. Kim, MD, and Rishi P. Singh, MD, have been named the new program directors of Retina 2021, according to a press release. They take over from Jay S. Duker, MD, and Elias Reichel, MD, who have spent years developing the program.
Retina 2021 is scheduled to be held in conjunction with Hawaiian Eye 2021 Jan. 16 to 22 at the Grand Wailea in Maui, Hawaii.
Kim, the first female program director in the meeting’s history, is a professor of ophthalmology and visual sciences in vitreoretinal and surgery and the director of teleophthalmology and research at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
“It’s an exciting time to be a retina specialist, since there’s so much happening in our subspecialty — it also means imparting the knowledge and sharing of the most up-to-date information with our colleagues are more critical than ever to provide the best care to our patients,” Kim said in the release. “Building on the excellence and the dedication of the previous program directors, Rishi and I will move the program forward with practical content provided by the best faculty.”
Singh, staff physician at the Cole Eye Institute’s Cleveland Clinic, medical director of the Clinical Systems Office Cleveland Clinic and associate professor of ophthalmology at Case Western Reserve University, has been involved with the meeting for several years in various capacities, including serving on the faculty and planning committee.
“I first want to thank Dr. Jay Duker and Dr. Elias Reichel for their excellent stewardship of the program for over a decade,” Singh said in the release. “It’s my pleasure to continue their vision with Dr. Judy Kim as my co-chair to make this program even better for years to come.”
