Next year’s American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery meeting in San Francisco has been rescheduled from April to August, according to an ASCRS statement.

The meeting will now be held Aug. 13 to 17, 2021. In addition, the 2020 ASCRS summer symposium, slated for August in Austin, Texas, has been canceled.

The ASCRS executive committee decided to postpone to avoid the prospect of losing another physical meeting due to COVID-19. This will allow additional time for a potential vaccine to be developed, approved and administered.

Deadlines for abstract submission, exhibit contract and registration are expected to remain close to traditional dates.
