Santen introduces earth-friendly eye drop bottles

An eye drop used to treat glaucoma will now be offered in an environmentally friendly bottle, Santen announced in a press release.

The bottle, made of carbon-neutral biomass plastic materials, will be used for delivery of Timoptol (timolol maleate) 0.5%, a beta-adrenergic receptor blocker agent.

Santen, which is headquartered in Osaka, Japan, is answering a 2016 action plan put forth by the Ministry of the Environment.

“We at Santen not only intend to contribute to the ministry’s emissions reduction target through the introduction of this new biomass plastic program, we are also committed, through our operations in all countries and regions, to the sustainable protection of the global environment through the promotion of action to protect local environments, prevent global warming, make effective use of resources and protect biodiversity,” the release said
