AAO expands Verana Health’s role for IRIS Registry
The American Academy of Ophthalmology announced Verana Health, the data curation and analytics partner for the IRIS Registry, will assume responsibility for EHR integration, practice support and Merit-Based Incentive Payment System quality reporting for physicians contributing to the registry.
“Through its ability to provide novel insights into real-world evidence, the IRIS Registry is transforming our profession. The IRIS Registry has been pivotal in providing a MIPS quality reporting system that has saved Academy members nearly half a billion dollars in penalties since MIPS reporting began in 2017,” David W. Parke II, MD, CEO of the AAO, said in a press release.
Verana Health will serve as the end-to-end data and technology partner for the registry. The rollout will begin this month and continue for 2 years as Verana Health adds additional EHR systems into its operations. As practices become eligible for EHR integration and quality reporting, they will be notified by the AAO.
Reporting for 2020 will not be affected, with no disruptions to current services. The current registry service provider will continue to offer support through the transition.
