It has been a good, solid 4 months since we added InflammaDry to our SkyVision Centers Dry Eye protocol. We’ve got all kinds of data; so much so that we are kind of struggling with what to do with it all. I thought I’d send out a little “help” signal to you all before I put down our experiences in writing.

Where have you put InflammaDry (Rapid Pathogen Screening) in your protocol? What kind of clinical situations trigger a call for the test? What is your staff saying about the test itself? The SkyVision technical staff continues to be very comfortable with the RPS point-of-service model and has found the test easy to administer. What are your findings? What have the results been in your selected patients, and how have these results altered your treatment protocols if, in fact, they have?

Here’s a bit of a preview of what I will be writing. We have essentially done a trial of InflammaDry as a test that can be used identically to the tear osmolarity test. For 3 months we have done them side-by-side when we have an initial opportunity to test under our dry eye protocols. (Note: this is no more or less frequent than our established tear osmolarity protocol, which has been in place for several years).

Although this is hardly an exhaustive sample — even though we have a very large dry eye practice — we are starting to see some trends.

I’d still like to hear what you are finding before I stick a flag in the sand. Send me an email.
