Johnson & Johnson Vision is launching the Tecnis toric II one-piece IOL, which has been approved by the FDA, according to a press release.
The IOL is the first to be approved on the Tecnis toric II platform, which offers more surface texture and friction on the IOL haptics, the release said.
“With the launch of Tecnis toric II IOL, our goal is to provide surgeons with a higher degree of confidence in treating astigmatism so that more cataract patients can enjoy clear, high-quality vision,” Xiao-Yu Song, global head of research and development, Johnson & Johnson Vision, said in the release.
Johnson & Johnson Vision is also starting two post-market clinical trials of the Tecnis toric II platform, which will include up to 1,000 patients at 50 U.S. sites, to demonstrate rotational stability and visual outcomes.
