SAN FRANCISCO — Ocutrx Vision Technologies is debuting a prototype of its ORLenz augmented reality headset at the American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting.

The headset, a follow-up to the Oculenz AR Wear headset for macular degeneration, is intended to aid surgeons and retinal specialists during procedures by portraying 2D and 3D graphics from MRIs, CT scans and other medical imaging on a 120° field of view. ORLenz also features a MedTiles visual presentation, overlaying pertinent information on a virtual display over the operating view.

“Unveiling the prototype at the American Academy of Ophthalmology will provide an opportunity for hands-on demonstrations of the technology within a community of professionals who have been extremely vocal in expressing their interest in the value this tool will be able to offer them during delicate procedures,” Michael Freeman, CEO and chief technology officer of Ocutrx, said in a press release.
