New technologies aimed at practitioner acceptance
PARIS — Technology has a purpose at Carl Zeiss Meditec and that is to function as a vehicle, not the driver, for delivering efficiency and better patient outcomes.
“Technology can only be accepted if it can make the practitioner more efficient,” James V. Mazzo, global president of ophthalmic devices, told Healio.com/OSN.
New products being introduced by Zeiss at the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons meeting include technologies that are “advancing digitalization of eye care and high-resolution imaging, helping doctors maximize clinical efficiency and performance,” according to a company press release.
The Artevo 800 digital microscope includes integrated digital optics and cloud connectivity to the EQ Workplace, providing remote data accessibility and streamlining workflow, according to the release.
“Across the breadth of our product line, from diagnosis to treatment, what we’re introducing now is not just diagnostics for a diagnostics sake,” Mazzo said, but rather the technologies allow clinicians to make critical decisions to enhance patient outcomes as well as increase workflow efficiency.
“We’re flipping the equation because technology can no longer be the lead; it is only the vehicle to better patient outcomes,” Mazzo said. – by Patricia Nale, ELS
