Verana Health and the American Academy of Ophthalmology have launched a new tool aimed at helping physicians improve patient outcomes and provide better care through data insights and trends gathered by the AAO IRIS Registry, according to a press release.

Verana Practice Insights will gather and aggregate data including physician practice trends, patient diagnoses and interventions across the U.S., as well as benchmark individual care patterns, the release said.

“The registry has improved the quality of care by accelerating the adoption of best practices and technologies, while facilitating quality reporting,” David W. Parke II, MD, CEO of the AAO, said in the release. “The launch of Verana Practice Insights further enhances the registry’s offering and value, becoming an important vehicle for clinical benchmarking and quality improvement. We look forward to working with Verana Health on this initiative to enhance the quality of care for our patients. We call on all IRIS Registry participants to enroll to ensure they can benefit from these insights.”

Members-only early access to Verana Practice Insights will be available in October to those who preregister. The program will begin with cataract surgery insights and will later include data on glaucoma and retinal conditions.

To preregister, physicians can visit www.veranahealth.com/verana-practice-insights-signup and fill out the information form.

“The IRIS Registry holds a wealth of information that enables us to better understand the experiences of millions of ophthalmology patients. By applying analytics to this real-world clinical data, Verana Health enhances evidence generation and provides a much deeper understanding of patient conditions and treatment options,” Miki Kapoor, Verana Health CEO, said in the release. “Verana Practice Insights organizes the vast amount of knowledge found in the IRIS Registry into clear, actionable insights that enable physicians to benchmark themselves against best practices and ensure that they are providing the highest quality of patient care.”
