Clerio Vision has acquired Hydrogel Vision Corporation, a manufacturer and distributor of high-performance contact lenses.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. All Hydrogel employees will be retained, and manufacturing and fulfillment activities will continue in Sarasota, Florida, according to a press release.

Hydrogel Vision offers the Extreme H2O product line and differentiated offerings to personalize contact lens wearing experiences, including lenses in multiple diameters. The lenses are made from a proprietary material that retains up to 99% of its moisture.

“As Clerio began preparations for its first contact lens offering, we quickly identified HVC as a best-in-class manufacturing partner,” Alex Zapesochny, co-CEO of Clerio Vision, said in the release. “We are thrilled to have now fully joined forces with HVC and to further build on its history of offering innovative products of the highest quality.”

Clerio is developing a multifocal contact lens product that it expects to have on the market in the next 18 months, the release said. The company’s technology allows laser writing of patterns into contact lenses for correction at far and near distances for patients with presbyopia.
