Iridex and Quantel have resolved a patent and trademark infringement dispute, with each dismissing a lawsuit against the other.

According to an Iridex press release, the company dismissed its lawsuit, filed in January 2018, that alleged Quantel not only infringed the company’s U.S. Patent No. 7,771,417 and MicroPulse trademark, but also breached an earlier agreement between the two parties.

In Europe, Quantel withdrew its opposition to Iridex’s patent No. 1856774.

“We place a high priority defending our intellectual property, and I am very pleased with the swift resolution of the U.S. lawsuit and the intellectual property claims in Europe. Our MicroPulse technology and its brand recognition now remain protected from competitive misuse and misrepresentation,” William Moore, Iridex president and CEO, said in the release.
