The Scientific Program Committee for APAO 2019 has now been finalized, with Prof. Dennis Lam of Hong Kong as chair. Together, these renowned experts from the Asia-Pacific and beyond will coordinate an innovative scientific program, featuring 17 subspecialty areas in ophthalmology and visual sciences.
This year, APAO is pleased to offer up to 10 Prof. Yasuo Tano Travel Grants for young ophthalmologists in the Asia-Pacific region to attend the APAO 2019 Congress in Bangkok. Each successful applicant will receive US$1,000 if they live outside the host country of the 34th APAO Congress (ie, Thailand), whereas those who live in the host country will receive US$300.
Priority will be given to ophthalmologists who are age 40 years or younger, from a developing country and whose presentations (free paper, poster or video) have been accepted by the Scientific Program Committee of the 34th APAO Congress. Please note that previous recipients of the Prof. Yasuo Tano Travel Grants are welcome to reapply, although priority will be given to first-time recipients. Applications from travel grant recipients at the APAO 2018 Congress in Hong Kong will not be accepted. Interested young ophthalmologists should complete the application form available on the Congress system by Sept. 7. Selection results will be announced by November.
Abstract submission for the 34th APAO Congress is also underway and will continue through Monday, Sept. 3, at 11:59 p.m. (GMT+8). Authors who wish to present papers, posters, videos and/or instruction courses should submit their abstract(s) via the online abstract submission system at http://congress.apaophth.org/.
For the second year in a row, the APAO Congress will present awards for outstanding contributions to the submitted program, including the Best Scientific Paper Awards and the Top 5 Posters, E-Posters and Videos. Delegates who wish to compete for these prizes are encouraged to read the abstract submission guidelines beforehand.
