Last month we featured the Asia Pacific Tele-Ophthalmology Society in the APAO Edition of Ocular Surgery News. This month we conclude the introduction to our new members by featuring the Asian Neuro-Ophthalmology Society, an associate member of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology.

Founded in 2002, the Asian Neuro-Ophthalmology Society (ASNOS) holds scientific meetings every 2 years with a unique clinicopathologic case presentation conference in the style of the Frank B. Walsh Society meeting, known as “Walsh in Asia,” to promote and expedite the development of neuro-ophthalmology in Asian countries.

Dr. Satoshi Kashii of Japan is the current president of ASNOS and will also represent the society on the APAO Council. He offered the following comments about joining APAO:

“The ASNOS would provide the best platform for exchanging scientific ideas about the newest clinical findings and basic investigation in the field of neuro-ophthalmology in the Asia-Pacific region and advancing knowledge in diagnosis, therapeutics and technology. We have a good history of nurturing and developing regional neuro-ophthalmology societies in Southeast Asia for the past 16 years. We would like to extend our support to the whole Asia-Pacific region by joining the APAO.”
