Aerie to match ASCRS Foundation donations during annual meeting

WASHINGTON – Aerie Pharmaceuticals will match up to $25,000 of donations made to the ASCRS Foundation during the annual ASCRS meeting, the company announced in a press release.

The ASCRS Foundation, a charitable 501c3 organization, provides cataract surgery to those in need throughout the United States and in developing countries. The foundation is encouraging attendees of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery meeting, which ends Tuesday, April 17, to donate to its humanitarian efforts.

Aerie will match those donations $1 for $1 during the meeting.

“The ASCRS Foundation is amplifying a long tradition of humanitarian eye care provided by the ophthalmic community by creating new fundraising initiatives that allow many more ASCRS-ASOA members to support this sight-saving work directly,” Vincente Anido Jr., PhD, Aerie Chairman and CEO, said. “We are proud to join the ASCRS Foundation in celebrating this commitment and to help increase access to eye care for those most in need, here in the United States and around the world, by doubling the donations made at this meeting.”

Donations can be made in person at the meeting at the ASCRS Foundation’s Give Sight wall display in the exhibit hall or online at www.ascrsfoundation.org/give.

Editor's update: Aerie Pharmaceuticals reports that the total funds raised in donations from ASCRS-ASOA members through the Give Sight Wall initiative plus funds matched by Aerie Pharmaceuticals exceeded $53,000.
