Glaukos posts $1 million quarterly income
Glaukos reported a fourth quarter net income of $1 million, or $0.03 per share, compared with a net income of $0.1 million, or $0 per share, in 2016’s final quarter, according to a press release.
For the full year, the company posted a net loss of $0.1 million, or $0 per share, compared with a net income of $4.5 million, or $0.12 per share, in 2016.
Net sales increased in the fourth quarter by 26% to $41.7 million compared with $33.2 million in 2016’s fourth quarter. Net sales for the year rose to $159.3 million, an increase of 39% over 2016’s net sales of $114.4 million.
Operating expensed in the quarter increased from $27.9 million to $36.5 million, which was attributed to increasing domestic sales, marketing and administrative personnel and expenses, as well as investments in Glaukos’ global infrastructure.
The full year’s operating expenses increased 49% to $140.5 million compared with $94 million in the previous year.
