IOPtima launches Lipitear phospholipid microemulsion

Issue: October 2017

IOPtima launched Lipitear, a phospholipid-based microemulsion formed by an aqueous phase and a lipidic phase that helps restore the microenvironment of the ocular surface, the company announced in a press release.

Lipitear also enhances the physiological process of corneal re-epithelization after ocular surgery and reduces the symptoms and signs of ocular surface disorder.

It restores the natural tear film, exhibiting a long-lasting effect on a dry eye by preventing evaporation and lubricating the corneal surface, the release said.

The device is currently marketed in Europe under a CE mark but has not yet been registered in the United States.
