Zeiss has acquired Veracity Innovations LLC, a cloud-based platform for cataract surgery planning, according to a company press release.

Veracity, which was launched at this year’s American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery annual meeting, allows surgeons to manage, analyze and plan cataract surgeries for the best outcomes, and works with many electronic medical records and diagnostic devices, the release said.

“ZEISS is constantly addressing future-forward trends, such as digitalization, to give doctors innovative solutions to help patients,” Ludwin Monz, president and CEO of Carl Zeiss Meditec, said in the release.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

“Zeiss has the vision and the expertise to bring this technology to the next level and is set to revolutionize cataract surgery and extend this solution to transform other applications in ophthalmology and beyond,” added Kerry Solomon, MD, one of the software company’s founders.
