Bausch + Lomb announced the launch of the FortifEYE capsular tension ring.

The preloaded, sterile, non-optical implant is designed to stabilize the crystalline lens capsule when there are weak or partially absent zonules during cataract surgery with IOL implantation, according to a company press release.

“Capsular tension rings can play an important role in complex cataract cases, and they must be both effective and easy to use during these procedures,” Chuck Hess, Bausch + Lomb vice president and general manager, U.S. Surgical, said in the release. “The FortifEYE CTR with preloaded single-use injector simplifies insertion allowing for safe, immediate preparation and use.”

The PMMA ring is available in diameters of 10 mm, 11 mm and 12 mm (compressed).
