LOS ANGELES — Three new IOL power calculations that account for the posterior corneal surface are now fully integrated into the swept source biometry of the Zeiss IOLMaster 700, James V. Mazzo, global president ophthalmic devices, announced at a media briefing here during the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery meeting.

The Barrett Suite incorporates the Barrett Universal II formula, the Barrett Toric formula and the Barrett True-K formula, which has the capability of predicting IOL power in eyes with previous myopic LASIK or PRK.

“It’s truly a seamless integration,” Graham D. Barrett, MD, originator of the Barrett formulas, said in the briefing.

The intention is to improve refractive accuracy and reduce the risk of refractive surprise, according to the media presentation. – by Patricia Nale, ELS
