APAO 2018 Hong Kong
The 33rd Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology Congress, co-hosted by the Hong Kong Ophthalmological Society and the College of Ophthalmologists of Hong Kong, will be held from Feb. 8 to 11, 2018. The meeting will be held in conjunction with the 29th Hong Kong Ophthalmological Symposium.

Inaugural Asia-Pacific Strabismus and Paediatric Ophthalmology Society Congress
APAO is pleased to announce the inaugural congress of the Asia-Pacific Strabismus and Paediatric Ophthalmology Society (APSPOS), one of APAO’s subspecialty member societies. The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences of the Chinese University of Hong Kong will co-organize the inaugural APSPOS Congress, in conjunction with the 1st Hong Kong Paediatric Ophthalmology Congress, from Oct. 11 to 12 in Hong Kong.

This inaugural congress will feature one of the most important and innovative programs in pediatric ophthalmology in 2017. Of the seven symposia in the program, six will be co-organized by leading societies in the field from around the world, including the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus; Chinese Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus; European Strabismological Association; International Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Council; International Strabismological Association; and World Society of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. The Hong Kong Pediatric Ophthalmology Group will organize the inaugural symposium.
The venue for the APSPOS 2017 Congress is Hong Kong Eye Hospital (HKEH) in Hong Kong. Located in the heart of Kowloon district, HKEH is easily accessible by efficient public transportation from Hong Kong International Airport. With an extensive network of hotels ranging from the ultimate five-star to more economic choices, there are more than 23,621 rooms in 91 hotels available in the immediate vicinity of the congress venue.
The inaugural APSPOS Congress will bring together more than 50 renowned speakers from around the world to share their expertise in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. More than 300 delegates are expected to attend.
Symposia at the congress will cover updates and advances as well as common ocular problems in children. Surgical approaches to pediatric cataract with IOL implantation will be highlighted. Medical and surgical management of pediatric glaucoma and anterior segment disorders will be discussed. Retinal diseases including retinopathy of prematurity, surgical retinal disorders, uveitis and retinopathy associated with systemic pediatric conditions will be covered. Other topics include myopia, allergic eye diseases, thyroid eye diseases and challenging strabismus. The scientific program will feature various innovative presentation formats: videos, lectures, case presentations and interactive panel discussion. Sessions will be geared toward general ophthalmologists, pediatric ophthalmologists, cataract surgeons, vitreoretinal surgeons, and glaucoma and corneal experts interested in working with children, other eye care professionals and pediatricians.
Early bird registration and abstract submission for APSPOS 2017 is now open via the APSPOS Congress system. Free papers, posters and video submissions are all welcome. Authors are encouraged to read the submission guidelines carefully before beginning the submission process.
