LOS ANGELES — Surgilum introduced a new self-illuminating eye speculum here at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery meeting.

The Photon Speculum is a combination of the company’s single use corneal transilluminator magnetically attached to the Surgilum Speculum, providing adjustable tangential light for illuminating the anterior segment of the eye, according to a company press release.

The device reduces glare and risk of phototoxicity, according to the release.
