Alcon is launching two vitreoretinal surgical products at the FLOREtina Retina Meeting in Florence, Italy, according to a press release.

The Advanced Ultravit beveled high speed probe and the Vektor articulating illuminated laser probe are designed to help surgeons be more precise and efficient during vitreoretinal surgery. They are available in gauges of 23, 25+ and 27+.

“We are delighted to launch both of these devices at the FLOREtina Retina Meeting as this represents a great opportunity to focus on advances in vitreoretinal surgery following our 2016 launch of our NGENUITY 3D visualization system where we have had such positive feedback,” Ian Bell, regional president of Alcon EMEA, said in the release.

The Vektor probe is to be used with the Purepoint laser and Constellation vision system and is designed to “better reach and treat the anterior periphery of the retina.” The Ultravit probe has a dual pneumatic drive technology that powers up to 10,000 cuts per minute, and the bevel tip brings the cutting port closer to the retina.
