MAASTRICHT, Netherlands — At the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons winter meeting, Osama Ibrahim, MD, PhD, gives an overview of the long-term results of small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE). He was able to demonstrate that the procedure is suitable for patients with all degrees of myopia, from high to low. He discusses the advantages of SMILE over LASIK, as well as the challenges that still remain.
