Abbott reports $5.3 billion in fourth quarter net sales
Abbott reported worldwide net sales of $5.3 billion in the fourth quarter of 2016, a 2.8% increase on a reported basis and a 3.8% increase on an operational basis from the same quarter in 2015, according to a press release.
Full-year sales were $20.9 billion, a 2.2% increase from 2015 on a reported basis and a 4.8% increase on an operational basis.
Medical Optics sales increased 7.7% on a reported basis and 6.9% on an operational basis to $323 million in the fourth quarter. The recent launch of Tecnis Symfony IOLs in the U.S. drove the operational growth, according to the release.
Medical Optics sales for the full year were $1.2 billion, a 5.5% increase on a reported basis and a 5.1% increase on an operational basis.
Net earnings for Abbott for 2016 totaled $4.4 billion, a 68.4% increase from $1.4 billion in 2015.
