In memoriam: Matt Hasson, friend and colleague

Ocular Surgery News and SLACK Incorporated lost a friend and colleague when Matthew D. Hasson, age 55, of Brookhaven, Pennsylvania, died on Sept. 11.
Matt was a man dedicated to his career and devoted to his family. In his more than 11 years at SLACK Incorporated, Matt was a prolific writer, beginning his career with OSN’s sister publication Orthopedics Today and then settling in for the majority of his career at OSN.
He was the consummate professional journalist who was respected by the many physicians and association leaders he interviewed and covered.
Matt worked hard to achieve his title of senior staff writer, committing his working hours to meeting and exceeding deadlines and expectations. Outside of work, Matt pursued his creative interests, playing music and writing short stories.
The cover story in this issue of Ocular Surgery News is the last article Matt filed, and it was, indeed, ahead of deadline.
Matt will be missed by those of us who had the pleasure of working with him, by our entire organization and by the ophthalmic community.
